Dogs Teaching Us How to Be Human Again

The world is changing, so we have to change to keep up. But not all changes are good ones. With the world moving at a faster pace, people are changing the way they treat one another. The simple things in life that we use to appreciate and the simple kindnesses that we use to show towards each other are quickly fading. I think we should try to be more human again and I think that dogs can show us the way. Here are 18 things that we can learn from dogs.

1. Practice obedience when it's in our best interest.

2. Run to greet you're loved ones when they arrive home.

3. Be loyal.

4. Never pretend to be something your not.

5. Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joy ride.

6. Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.

7. Take naps and stretch before rising.

8. If someone is invading you're territory, let them know.

9. Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.

10. On hot days, lie under a tree and drink lots of water.

11. Thrive on attention and let people touch you.

12. Run, romp and play daily.

13. Eat with gusto and enthusiasm.

14. Dance around and wag you're entire body when you're happy.

15. No matter how often you're scolded, don't buy into the guilt thing and pout. Run right back and make friends.

16. If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it. When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently.

17. Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.

18. Love your master unconditionally.

There are many other ways we can learn from our dogs. These 18 ways are just for starters. If we could take the time out of our busy lives and watch our dogs we could learn a lot from them. They are not in any hurry, well maybe when it's time to be fed. When I come home from work, my dogs are the first ones to greet me at the door. When I leave for work in the morning, there is almost sadness in there eye's because I am leaving for the day. They are a wonderful companion who only wants to please me. When I decide to do any writing I use Microsoft Word because I know that Rocky will be at the top of the page, waiting patiently. Even Microsoft knew the true nature of the family dog and it's willingness to help when it's needed.
