To clean your dog's ears, you can go to a local pet store and find special solutions designed for this purpose. Some dogs may have mites, which are too small for you to see. Never insert anything deep into your dog's ears as their ears are very sensitive and you may cause permanent damage. Brushing your dog?s teeth is often overlooked yet many experts believe that it has a profound effect on the health and the longevity of your pet. Often times you can buy specially created bones that will help keep your dogs teeth clean. Chew toys and other rawhide bones are good for this as well. Do not underestimate the value in good dental hygiene for your pet. Fleas and ticks are often the most commonly known dog problem. This is typically because humans can actually see these pests. There is no doubt that fleas and ticks are a major nuisance, even for humans. However, the severity of the problem on your dog is tenfold. Some ticks contain a deadly disease called Lyme disease. This disease can slowly destroy your dog?s joints and require that your animal be put to sleep. If your dog is outside with any regularity, you need to be sure that they are on some type of flea and tick medicine such as Frontline Plus. If you maintain adequate health care for your animal, you will see the benefits in the way that they act, the way that they respond to training, and how long they live. You will also create a major bonding experience with your animal when you take adequate care of them. Remember, a healthy pet is a happy pet, and as a responsible pet owner, that is your job.
